Baba Yara Stadium went way yesterday when Kumasi Technical Institute
won the Boys division in Zone two of the ongoing inter-schools and colleges
athletics competition. Popularly known as the Canadians, KTI produced an
amazing performance to win the Boys category ahead of OKESS and Kumaca who
placed 2nd and 3rd respectively to KTI.
KTI were very impressive both in the track and field areas
and gave to room to the likes of OKESS and KUMACA. With many of their
vociferous fans chanting and routing for them right from the start of the
competition on Thursday through to Friday, KTI proved to be a formidable force
dominating in many of the events to claim the first slot in the boys division and
set the tone for what many believe will be a very competitive Super-Zonals
competition.
In the Girls division Defending Champions Kumasi Wesley
Girls High School were tipped before the competition to win Zone 2 and lived up
to expectation with a dominant performance over KUMACA, KNUST, Serwaa Nyarko
and others. Their awesome performance left many people guessing if T. I. Amass
phobia girls will have what it takes to wrestle the title from K-Wey Gey Hey.
The girls were very dominant in many of the events and won the competition with
a decent gap between themselves and the second placed school to keep many
upbeat about the upcoming Super Zonals.
At the end of proceedings in Zone-2 the following schools
managed to book their tickets in the Super-Zonals competition slated for 25th
and 26th of February, 2016.
