The Ashanti Regional Competition of the National Science and Maths Quiz kicked off at Burges Hall of OWASS from Monday the 1st February and will continue through to Friday the 5th of February.
The National Science and Maths Quiz seeks to promote the study of the Sciences. This programme has been popular at unearthing local young scholarly talent and healthy rivalries since 1993.
Here is an update of the Ashati Regional contest so far.
Some DAY 1 Results
At the end of the 1st contest KNUST qualified to the next round with the following points.
KNUST SHS: 48
Sekyedumase SHS: 15
Adventist Girls SHS: 14
This is how the contest ended:
St. Louis SHS: 29
Agogo State College: 27
Dompoase SHS: 19
At the end of Day 1 in the Ashanti Region, KNUST SHS, Nkawie SHS, Armed Forces SHTS and Osei Tutu SHS have qualified for NSMQ2016
Jachie Pramso SHS managed to beat Kumasi Wesley Girls and New Edubiase SHS to make it to the NSMQ for the first time. NSMQ2016
Obuasi Sec Tech also overcame Toase SHS and OKESS to qualify for NSMQ2016. Obuasi Sec Tech returns to the NSMQ for the first time since 1996.
The preliminary round will see schools book their tickets to compete in the actual finals later in the year. Other Regional Competitions are also underway.
Prempeh College are the defending Champions having beaten Adisadel and University Practice in the 2015 edition.
