Barekese Senior High produced an awesome choreography at
Cultural Centre to emerge as the Ashanti Regional Champions in the choreography
category at the 19th Annual Ashanti Regional Students week
celebration held over the weekend for the 3rd consecutive time.
Barekese who enacted and choreographed with an unfamiliar
gospel song portraying a journey to heaven creatively set up trees on stage, an
angelic scene together with a well-rehearsed choreography which saw the
struggles of three gentlemen on their way to a promise land make decisions in
the midst of their difficulties which ultimately led one man to make it to the
promise land.
Many of the supporters at the Apatakesease enjoyed the
performance to the fullest and tipped them to win the competition alongside
Achinakrom and Adu Gyamfi Senior High School.
Achinakrom who placed 2nd also surprised many
with a well rehearsed dance drama with their own orchestra to the amazement of
all though some patrons complained that they rather circumvented the system by performing
a cultural dance which was not supposed to be so.
Adu Gyamfi SHS were amazing to watch with an unparalled
creation choreography which saw them re-enact the story of Adam and Eve on
stage combined with Bob Marley’s Adam and Eve song.
In the end many patrons believed the competition in the
choreography category was very fair.
Osei Tutu once again are undefeated in the drama category after beating the threat from JAPASS and KASS to win the drama category. OT staged a drama on the consequence of cyber fraud with their usual dangerous effects and a strong message to win the competition with JAPASS matching them boot for boot with a well staged hearse (corpse scene) which amazed everyone. Kass were also fantastic with a well directed drama which saw them using some white students to the appreciation of all and placing 3rd in the drama category
The award recipients in the end were;
KTI took the music category with some tasty locaal songs collection while St. Monicas produced some sweet melodies and great harmonies to place 2nd
Okomfo Anokye won the comedy category with Adu Gyamfi and KUHIS placing 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Mr. Ohene Amoako David, the Regional Cordinator of the ARSRC together with two other Headmasters expressed satisfaction with the level of competition.
