Top Five 'JAMA' schools at 2016 SUZO-Prempeh/Yagss, K-Wey Gey Hey conquer OWASS/Louis, KTI, OT-KUHIS
Prempeh College and Yaa Asantewaa teamed up beautifully to
win the ‘jama’ battle at the Baba Yara Stadium in an admirable fashion in the
just ended Ashanti Regional Super Zonals. The pair gave unending entertainment
to many people at the stadium with their beautiful well-crafted jama songs to
the envy of all at the stadium. RAPHSARK hinted of the intention to rate the
jama battles and followed the entire programme with eagle eye and arrives at
the following results in the jama battle at the Baba Yara Stadium.
1st Prempeh College/Yaa Asantewaa ***** star
performance
The awesome combination of the two in the red stands or
Amakom end of the field was a delight to watch with a sustained singing and
well composed songs to show their admiration for each other much to the envy of
all.
The pair were consistent on all the two days and relentless
in targeting the AKATASLOPSA pair who themselves were not bad. The AmanAdehye3
pair could be heard at all the corners of the stadium as they chanted and sang
in the course of the program. The cheered every move and every great
performance from their school with a lot adrenaline which surprised many patrons
at the stadium and also demonstrated a lot of romantic attachment.
2nd Kumasi Wesley Girls High School ****star
performance
Arguably the most populous school at the stadium, their
voices resonated at all corners as they sang and cheered through the game. The
engaged many other girls school notably Serwaa Nyarko and Afia Kobi in a jama
won and seemed to have had the upper hand with their number.
3rd Opoku Ware/ St. Louis ***star performance
The AKATASLOPSA pair were also a delight to watch as they engaged in a romantic combination to produce some sweet jama songs to all the stadium. They were however drowned by Prempeh and YAGSS and seemed to lose ‘capa’ so easily. In all it was an improvement on last year’s performance. Their numbers were quite huge though and should have impacted more.
4th Kumasi Technical Institute ***star performance
The Canadians as they are affectionately referred to made
their presence felt but not as imposing as last year. They were not very
consistent but still made an impact with their many jama songs. They lacked the
capa to sustain the momentum and got separated too many times but trust KTI to
give you the best jama if they in their elements. A three star performance
from KTI wins them the 4th
slot.
5th T. I. Amass-Kumasi **star performance
The 8 times suzo champions are not known for their jama
abilities but I guess their success story in the athletics competition seemed
to be rekindling their jama fire. Rated as the fifth best jama school at suzo,
the phobia school combined beautifully with their teaming students and teachers
at the VIP section to sing some beautiful rendition of Hearts of Oak’s famous
songs to the envy of all. They were dominant with their huge numbers and though
not very well rehearsed jama tunes, they still managed some beautiful jama
songs.
O.T./KUHIS miss out
The two schools were nowhere to be found in the
jama battle and seemed to have been given a serious blow by their unfair
positioning at the stadium. OT were placed at the far corner of the Asokwa
Stance and seemed alienated from the crowd which demotivated them to produce their
jama readiness. High school also suffered a similar fate as they placed at just
the beginning of the Asokwa end separated from KUGISS by some wire mesh and seemed
to have lost the battle as well. OT and Afia Kobi were strangely separated so
was KUHIS and KUGISS though Prempeh and YAGSS as well as OWASS and St. Louis
were positioned together. In the end it affected their morale and tried as they
did to stay relevant, they were unfortunately drowned
