Statistics has shown that over 461,000 candidates sat for the BECE exams yesterday and today happens to be the day the news was released to our front desk that some students were not allowed to sit for the papers.
The report is said it is due to their mix-up of their index numbers. According to WAEC, an order has been made that these students have to re-sit for the exams next year to come.
These students are being stopped to write the Basic Education Certificate Examination since there is a mix up in their index numbers. This situation puts fear and pain in the parents of the affected students, which they took anger and displeasure to call the West African Examination Center (WAEC) asking to address the anomaly.
One sad news about the issue is that, this is the first time these students are accessing an external exams since it's conducted by the West African Examination Center known as in-charge for all external exams in West Africa that students are to be examined before moving to the next level.
According to the West African Examination Council (WAEC), said it should not be blame for this problem. The person of Agnes Teye Cudjoe, the spokesperson for the West African Examination Council, said it all that the registration of students was done at the school level which was later then uploaded onto WAEC's database.
